Rapid Growth of Telemedicine Claims Processed by expEDIum.

Because of its ability to cut healthcare costs, enhance patient access to healthcare services, and improve patient care quality, telemedicine has played a critical role in the healthcare business. Telemedicine technology is simple to use, and as telemedicine develops, additional benefits will become available.

Some have hailed the expanding use of telemedicine as a vital "silver lining" of the COVID pandemic, assuming such a thing exists for such a big disaster. During the first fearful weeks of the pandemic, most people did not seek medical help from their doctors. Telemedicine has quickly progressed from a niche service to a major modality of care delivery.

In this telemedicine business, Covid-19 has worked as a catalyst. The number of telehealth claims in the United States was only 6.6 million in 2019, but it climbed to 160 million in 2020. It is predicted to settle at 130 million in 2021, but we have yet to grasp the new normal in Telehealth interaction.

Since the epidemic, we've observed clinics processing more telemedicine claims in our expEDIum system. expEDIum is crucial in reimbursing any patient for telemedicine services supplied by any provider. The number of Medicare beneficiaries who use telemedicine is increasing weekly from a low base of telemedicine claims.

It was just a handful of claims in 2019 processed through expEDIum. However, it had shot up to 55K claims in 2020, and we expect it to settle down at 60K in 2021. These claims are from Community Health, Behavioural Health, Mental health, General Practice, Paediatrics, Psychiatry, Rehabilitation, Gynaecology, Family Medicine, Gastroenterology, and women's health.

With A Recent Software Update on expEDIum, It Now Supports Multiple Practices NPI And TAX ID In Patient Statement.

expEDIum now supports Multiple Practice NPI (Billing Provider NPI) and Tax ID configured in the account setup to be used from patient statements and patient ledger from a single account. Previously, users could not create a patient statement with practice specific NPI and tax ID information as that data would appear under a single Primary Practice NPI and Tax ID; now, a clinic can make a patient statement for each Billing Provider NPI and Tax ID.

With this feature, the user can

    • Create single/bulk patient statements for each practice Billing Provider NPI/Tax ID.
    • View and print single/bulk patient statements for each practice Billing Provider NPI/Tax ID.
    • You can view the patient ledger transactions for each practice NPI & Tax ID pair in the Patient Ledger screen.

This feature is helpful for the clinics to create patient statements for the additional practices from the primary practice account with different approach NPI & Tax ID configured in a single account.

Cross-Claim Secondary Creation & Cloning From HCFA To UB04 Feature And Cloning Feature Added To expEDIum.

expEDIum medical billing always has been about making your medical billing automated. expEDIum has added a new feature called secondary cross-claim creation and cloning. Now, the user can create a UB-04 secondary claim from a posted CMS-1500 primary claim on a button click and vice versa.

For example, in some cases, in surgery centers, if a patient has secondary insurance that requires a professional (CMS-1500), you previously had to manually create this secondary CMS-1500 claim from the UB04 Primary claim. But, with expEDIum, you need not worry. We have it covered through our feature “Cross claim,” where you can create a primary claim to secondary claims (Professional to institutional or vice versa) with just a button click. This feature will save a tremendous amount of time in secondary claim creation & increase the cash flow for the clinics that process both professional and institutional claims.

expEDIum Adds Claim Status Inquiry to Its Medical Billing Solution.

For a biller to handle aged/denied claims, they must know the status of the claims. Making calls to the Payers can be time-consuming and costly for the clinics. So, expEDIum has introduced a "Seamless Claim Status Inquiry" feature in its expEDIum Medical Billing (eMB) product to make seamless inquiries from the original claims submitted through eMB. The inquiries can be driven from the aging claims, sent initially from eMB, performed the questions, and all the responses are received in real-time, reconciled with the original claims, and results presented in a readable fashion. The inquiries can be performed one at a time or in "bulk" for a given payer or set of aging claims across multiple payers.

We currently use Exchange EDI as our preferred clearinghouse for performing claim status inquiries, and using this feature would incur transactional charges on inquiries performed.

Annual Amount Cap Feature Added to expEDIum Medical Billing.

expEDIum has recently added a new "Annual Amount Cap" feature for Public Health clinics in expEDIum medical billing. In the Annual Amount Cap feature, the amount can be collected from the patients for certain SFSs (sliding fee schedule) programs, and it will be deducted from the precalculated annual cap balance based on their annual income.

This feature would be helpful for public health clinics to track and alert users on the annual cap balance for a patient each time a patient payment transaction is added to the patient ledger.

The clinic is also allowed to edit, create, print, and add transactions once this feature is available.

This new feature will enable the clinics to keep track of the Annual Amount Cap Balance easily. Once a patient has hit the Annual Cap, the Clinics will be alerted, and then they will be able to write off the patient balances for those programs on the claim ledger for that patient until the year is over.

We have always kept up with the industry standards and customer demands and implemented new features in every software release. Solving the customer's problem and adhering to their demands has always been our top-notch priority.

expEDIum Adds PPA (Patient Payment Agreement) On expEDIum.

Medical treatments are expensive; many patients cannot afford to pay their medical bills in one shot, which makes it harder for providers to continue to give their medical services to patients. expEDIum has added a “Patient Payment Agreements” (PPA) feature in its Medical Billing Software. It is a simple agreement where the patient agrees to pay a certain amount until it is completely paid. This feature is available for clinics where we have an agreement template built for each clinic.

The PPA feature access is available to the operators/users under a practice account based on the privileges configured by the administrator.

Once the feature is enabled for the clients, the user can create agreements, manage the documents, and manage transactions against the PPA in the ledger.

This feature will help providers, clinics, and hospitals to collect more co-pays efficiently. In addition, it will make it easy for the patient to pay their expensive medical bill by dividing it into a monthly payment.

expEDIum has always ensured customer problems are solved, and our priority is serving clients. Currently, expEDIum is working toward enabling online payments to make this feature even more seamless by adding automatic credit card charges with this feature. Stay tuned for more from expEDIum.

expEDIum Adds “expEDIum Reports” To Its Suite of Products, Making It More Comprehensive.

expEDIum has been serving the US market with expEDIum Medical Billing (eMB) for about a decade now. Recently, expEDIum has introduced expEDIum Report (eR) for expEDIum clients to access various reports from a separate application.

expEDIum Reports (eR) include state specific compliance data reports and other high-volume reports. The application is supporting the following State Data Reports – SPARCS (NY), THCIC (for Texas), AHCA (for Florida) & CHIA (for Nevada)

eR securely connects to the main eMB database over a private virtual cloud (VP) using a private IP. Hence, the user can use the same login credentials used for eMB to log in to expEDIum Reports. Upon logging into the eR, users can generate their own respective state reports from their billing data in the eMB.

expEDIum will continue adding more compliance reports for other states in eR to make billing easier for billers across the USA. Stay tuned for new updates from expEDIum.

Make Your Billing Work Easier with Our ESB – Electronic Super Bill.

Many medical billers receive the superbill scan & patient demographic data as separate silos, and then they 'assemble" all data into a claim. As it is a time-consuming process for a biller, expEDIum has introduced ESB in its expEDIum-billing module.

The ESB is customizable for each clinic and carries the patient, clinic information, and encounter information. Besides, the clinic does not have to enter patient and clinic information as it will auto-populate in the form field.

This feature will make charge entry much easier for the biller, as upon submitting the form, eMB can pull in the data and create a claim; all that remains is for the biller to scrub the claim and submit it. Also, clinics can print the ESB and give it to their patient to carry.

We are taking one step at a time and making it simpler for our clients.
