Branding is more than just a visual exercise; it’s about weaving a narrative that connects with people. The rebranding journey of iTech Workshop into expEDIum was one of those projects that demanded not only design expertise but also a deep understanding of storytelling and strategy.
When we began this project in 2023, the task was straightforward: to refresh the parent brand’s logo. But like many design projects, this evolved into something much bigger—creating a family of identities for the company’s entire suite of products. What unfolded was a collaborative, challenging, and deeply rewarding experience that showcased the power of thoughtful design.
The Beginning: Reimagining iTech Workshop
iTech Workshop approached us with the vision of creating a strong brand identity for their parent company and product suite. Initially, the focus was on designing the parent logo, but as discussions progressed, it became clear that each product needed a distinct yet cohesive identity.

The existing iTech Workshop logo featured a classic slab serif font. While this provided a sense of tradition, the brand was in dire need of rejuvenation. We set out to modernize it while retaining its essence.
Breaking Down the Design Process
We started by analyzing the typography—exploring thick and thin strokes, minimal versus intricate curves, and balancing complexity with simplicity. The first step was refining the letter “e,” experimenting with its placement and variations in composition. However, we quickly realized that mere typeface adjustments weren’t enough; we needed a conceptual approach.

With pencil and paper, we began sketching different interpretations of the letter “e,” aiming to tell a unique story through its curves. A key decision was avoiding clichés like the red cross or human care figures. The goal was to craft a bold, timeless, and innovative identity.
Finding the Winning Concept
After multiple iterations, we narrowed it down to three concepts. The first revolved around integrating the “e” with abstract shapes to signify a suite of products. The second emphasized a stable composition with five interlocking circles representing interconnected healthcare solutions. The third—and ultimately, the chosen one—featured a well-balanced, fluid form of “e” that subtly incorporated a modern red cross symbol.

With the parent brand logo finalized, the next challenge was extending this visual language to individual product logos.
The Product Logo Evolution
InstaPay
InstaPay, focused on fast and secure transactions, demanded a logo that embodied speed and reliability. Initial explorations involved complex glyphs, but simplifying the design led us to an arrow and a card icon facing the right, capturing movement and financial transactions efficiently.

Medical Billing
Medical Billing streamlined claims processing, requiring a logo that conveyed accuracy and efficiency. We explored a laptop transformed into an accounting ledger, but ultimately, a cog with two upward arrows and a clockwise-turning arrow best represented the essence of smooth and systematic billing.

RCM (Revenue Cycle Management)
Efficiency was paramount in RCM, making arrows a significant element once again. The final design featured a clockwise-moving clock icon, leaving a trail of precision while symbolizing a well-optimized revenue cycle.

Office EHR
As a healthcare record management tool, Office EHR needed to reflect transparency, security, and reliability. The final composition involved a subtle pulse symbol integrated into a secure hand, symbolizing trust and digital record-keeping.

2024: A New Wave of Products
A year later, our collaboration with the expEDIum team continued with three new products.
EndoWriter
This digital tool for endoscopy patient records required a design that subtly conveyed the procedure without being overly clinical. Initial attempts included human figures and procedural elements, but after breaking down the endoscopy device itself, we designed a circular form symbolizing the device’s light and tube—a simple yet effective representation.

ASC EHR
This was the most challenging logo, undergoing nearly 50 iterations. Designed for Ambulatory Surgical Centers (ASCs), it had to integrate aspects of consultation, procedures, and documentation. After extensive research, discussions, and refinement, we arrived at a sleek, clean composition that captured the infinite exchange of medical information between different phases of care.

expEDIum Reports
As a standalone analytics tool, expEDIum Reports had to represent data visualization in a compelling way. We experimented with compositions of reports and visual elements, finally settling on a design featuring gentle folds at the edge of the glyph, signifying transformation from raw data to meaningful insights.

Challenges and Learnings
Designing the expEDIum brand was as much about problem-solving as it was about creativity. Each product came with unique requirements, histories, and audiences, making abstraction a constant challenge. Striking the right balance between simplicity and storytelling was essential.
From deconstructing physical objects like endoscopy devices to representing seamless information exchange, every logo needed a distinct yet cohesive identity. Striking a balance between storytelling and simplicity was crucial. This required careful planning, iteration, and collaboration at every step.
Final Thoughts
Rebranding iTech Workshop into expEDIum wasn’t just about logos; it was about creating a unified story. Each design is a chapter in that story, reflecting the brand’s commitment to innovation and growth in healthcare technology.
For us, as designers, this journey reinforced why we love what we do. The process of distilling complex ideas into simple, impactful visuals is never easy, but when it works, the results are deeply rewarding. The expEDIum identity is more than a collection of logos—it’s a foundation for the brand’s future.
